buffalo
04:26
|
|||
clothes on the line have been there for days
corn stalks praying in the breeze
crickets whistling
summertime movin on the wind
ripping up hilltop and stream
get to the very edge of change
waiting
where do the buffalo go
where do the buffalo roam
dying time

turn away
05:00
|
|||
turn away i don't wanna see your face
late at night walking through the chaparral
branches cracking leaves rustling and the wind it blows
to my left i see the shadow coming close
wide awake through eyelids closed i see the storm
energy swirls around over the desert floor
to my left i see the shadow coming close
and i lay with my legs to my chest
till morning comes and releases me
spritis howl through the dark and i find no rest
till morning comes and releases me

pushing a cloud
05:34
|
|||
so simple
gotta let it go
feathers move in the wind
see em fly
see em dancing
oh what it is to feel
you blow your wishes to the dying stars
and i am here
watching it all
black and white still photograph
this moment
ever fleeting
it's here it's here it's here it's gone
you blow your wishes to the dying stars
the crows are calling out
you are pushing a cloud
we move along
pulled on kite strings
your heart it beats
and it beats on and on
you never know
how to feel
you are pushing a cloud
roses unfold

willow whisp
04:02
|
|||
rain pouring out
of a cotton gray sky
so this is the end
this is what it is to die
the feeling of it's uplifting me up
rounder than a hot air balloon
and the world is spinning round and round
i am spinning round too
rain harder now
a rivulet, a torrent
thunder clap crash
slanderous across the spine
you are but a snake in the grass
running from the fickle fire
closing your eyes and holding your breath
you are but a willow wisp
it's a beautiful high
blood leaving the brain
the river's giving a sigh
she's gonna burst the edge of the stream
this is where i'm gonna live
this is where i'm gonna die
i ain't got nowhere else to go
just a willow wisp caught in the wind

dead in the water
01:58
|
|||
fall fall falling fast
you were dead in the water
i can't hear a sound you say
i can't hear it now
so like suicide
you were dead in the water
i can't hear a sound you say
i can't hear it now

birch bark
03:08
|
|||
the wood pile's getting low
they say it's gonna snow
rice and beans on the stove tonight
for the third night in a row
i've been holding tight
to the bounty of the sun
as winter's come it's sure to end
and the magic carries on
underneath a blanket of snow
there's a world below
the birch bark helps to start our fire
in the morning when it's cold

fox and owl
03:21
|
|||
found a bone yesterday in the forest
fresh kill it had blood
held the bone aloft in my hand
fox appeared to tell me a story
it was bard owl
he caught a mouse
underneath the owl mouse changed
grew a bushy tail
muzzle got longer and teeth got big
owl said 'sorry i mistook you for someone else'
cause you run like the wind through the forest
you run like the wind through my heart
white roses
fox now i see you i am in love with you
i will give you warmth from the sun
with your warmth i will grow us a forest
we'll feed all the creatures of the earth
together we will live in harmony
we will watch the seasons cycle round
white roses
but soon owl he grew jealous
wanted to be closer to the earth
he flew out of the sky
cast a shadow over the land
beneath his powerful stare
the fox turned back into a mouse
white roses

mama's in the kitchen
03:01
|
|||
mama's in the kitchen calling out
daddy's got a fishing line
chicken's in the cornfield scratching out a meal
chimney swifts circle round the fire
fixing up to run so far away
my mind can't catch me for a while
the past is the past and it don't ever change
life is but a fickle fire

one of these days the grasses right outside my door
will die and become the soil
one of these days the house that i built with my hands
will follow me back into the earth
i am an old soul i've been around before
i am an old soul
